FACE-IT #2

#120
This was really quite difficult. The differences in the tones on
the face were very, very subtle. Had to squint, squint, squint!
Wipedback a few times here and there but got there in the end!
You'd think this was an orange background but infact it's red.
I'd love to know how to photograph the true colours! :-[

This is great- I love your subtle value shifts- as always- and the orange (red) background works well in contrast.
I've had some luck with photographing outdoors in full sun. I always used to photograph my work in the shade until a fellow artist told me he lets the sun hit his paintings at an angle (to reduce glare). This seems to be the only way I get proper reading of color- especially warms like red, yellow and orange.

Wow this is awesome. I really like the eyes. They say so much.

Another interesting face! :-)
I know what you mean about not being able to catch the correct colors in your photos. It is so very frustrating. I'm going to give Taryn's suggestion a try.

Hey Helen, I love these latest portraits. Wonderful expressions on their faces, which is so hard to achieve. The bold background colour choices are working wonders!
Happy Painting.
