PAT'S CARNATIONS

NFS

#192
I was asked to paint these carnations in memory of my late mother-in-law. Red and white carnations being her favourite. I decided to use four 5"x5" boards to make one 10"x10" ( 25.4cm x 25.4cm ) painting. The intention was that each of the boards represented the four siblings.

Nevertheless, I have been thinking of joining panels together like this for a while. I also want to try a few other ideas with different sizes. This idea will hopefully lead to different options for framing eg. spacing the panels slightly but still being in one frame, framing individually, or with some subjects (depending on the subject) being able to change the the order or placement of the panels. Thinking outside the box ( excuse the pun ) may or may not work. We'll see how it goes...

Helen, this is gorgeous and a wonderful tribute. Also a fantastic idea. So how was the experience of painting a larger concept than the typical daily painting fare? I'm struggling to work larger, and I do find it a bit difficult after years of working so small. You've seemed to handle the challenge without a hitch!

I LOVE this idea! You seemed to take a lot of care in making each piece beautiful in its own right, as well as the whole. Spectacular work Helen!

Somehow I have missed these lovely flower paintings. I need to pay more attention.

This is a wonderful idea and a sweet tribute to your mother in law. I like that each panel represents one of her children. Very inspirational!
