I broke a couple of rules here...... my subject is in the centre and there are virtually equal proportions of negative space around my subject. I guess I should go straight to the naughty corner with my palette! :-)

Hi Helen,
I think it works well being central. You have such a sense of her swiveling movement, it calls for balance. I love the skin tones.

still laughing at "naughty corner."
I have to remember that one.
I love this painting and the red rocks my boat.
Interesting cruciform.

The wings remind me of the phoenix rising from the ashes and this gives that feeling of renewal, this is wonderful work on so many different levels!!

Ha ha the naughty corner made me smile! The edges are fabulous and I love the red shawl...what are rules for if you can't break them once in a while:)

Wonderful work, Helen! I love your nudes. Breaking the rules can be very interesting, certainly with painting.
I find how you painted the shawl beautiful and daring!!

I don't think the broken rules hurt this at all. It is really lovely.

But these rules are not seen, because the focus is very well resolved with ease and mastery.
Greetings.
