OLD CHINA #2

SOLD

Same set up but a change of placement within the painting area. In order to learn and improve my knowledge of values/tones I decided to paint this in a 'high key'.

I must admit that at times I find still life boring......yes I know I should be wrapped over the paint brushes for writing that. But! At the moment I am trying to paint a single object or two in a way that I hope gives it a 'personality' ......so for now........ The hunger has returned!

RED GLASS

This painting went through a few stages! First attempt was a wipe-off and second attempt had lots of scraping back and repainting! Finally I had to tell myself to 'STOP' before I over painted it and had another wipe-off.

I'm also trying out a new app........I hope this one works!

SELFIE IN AN ORB

#216

It was one of those days. I didn't know what to paint. As I looked through my collection of still life objects I noticed my reflection in this orb ( Xmas decoration ) and thought......why not.....

I'm still having posting problems. :-/

TURN-IT-UP

#208
I only bought these turnips in order to paint them. It's one vegetable that I rarely eat. I know I'm not the only artist who does this..... ;-D

HONEY PEARS

Love all the varieties of pears. These are Honey Pears.....also known as The Quall Pear and Winter Nellis Pear.

OH MY SQUASH

#206
The knobbly edges on these squash were a lot more tricky than I thought they would be! :-O

OUT OF THE GREEN

#205
I painted this subject to really challenge myself. ( Although I think all paintings whatever the subject are always a challenge ) I deliberately chose paper the same colour as the pears. It was a very interesting exercise indeed!
*Unfortunately, and for some unknown reason, the colours of this painting have come up a bit washed-out compared to the one in my camera album. If I can fix the problem I'll post a new one.

HOT STUFF

Some trips to the supermarket can be fun....from an artistic point of view. These vivid coloured peppers and capsicum stopped me in my tracks. Into my basket they went.

PERSIMMON KISS

#203
Not only did I wipe-off more than once this week, the app I use for blogging wasn't functioning. :-/ The persimmons above were my only survivors.
All I can say is.........bring on next week!

I've been inspired by the moving figure lately. This nude study was sourced from the Posespace site. If you're not able to get to a Life class, this is a great option!
