#303 - 8 X 8 in ( 20.3 X 20.3 cm ) - Oil
It's seems so long since I've painted flowers. I really enjoyed doing these small, white lillies. Hmmm, well I really enjoyed painting the glass bottle too. I just love it when parts of the glass are lost into the background...........if I don't see an edge then I don't paint one. It's all about observation and only painting what you see, not what you know is there.

WHITE PINK ROSE
#274 - 8" x 8" - Oil
Roses are one of my favourite flowers. They come in such beautiful colours that I always find it difficult to decide which ones to buy. I'm sure the florist must wonder why I hover over the flowers for such a long time.

These Disbud, Chrysanthemums look just like snowballs or pompoms. Amazing flowers!

SHADES OF ROSE
NFS ( at the moment )
#233
There is something about backlighting that I really like. Also, I've just moved into a larger room so now I have the space to work on some larger pieces, something I've been wanting to do for quite a while.

This was painted on a birchwood panel, 2cm ( 7/8" ) deep, prepared with Gamblin oil painting ground. I found this particular panel quite nice to work on, and the good thing is, there is no need to frame it.

Still painting with acrylics and testing different painting surfaces. So far I like the ampersand gessoed boards and the acrylic primed linen.

Still trying out the acrylics. Thank you for the comments about how they looked like oils ....... which is exactly the effect I'm after.

It has been quite a while since I've posted but I have been painting! I decided to try using acrylic paints instead of oils and I must say that it has been an interesting adventure! I'm using them because I like the idea that they are non toxic, are so much easier to travel with, and clean up in water. What I do have to get use to is their very quick drying time! Anyway, here is the first of my small acrylic studies...

This painting went through a few stages! First attempt was a wipe-off and second attempt had lots of scraping back and repainting! Finally I had to tell myself to 'STOP' before I over painted it and had another wipe-off.
I'm also trying out a new app........I hope this one works!

Some flowers love the spotlight and others shy away from it. That's just how I felt about these two flowers when I placed them in the small glass bottle.
